The internet, as a communication technology, and the information technologies that get layered onto it (websites, bots, and everything else) destroy one of the greatest classical barriers in commerce: location and proximity.  For some products and services, distance is immediately rendered almost irrelevant.  And this goes for not just the distribution of products and services, but also the creation of them, as all of the components of creation do not have to be located in the same community.</description>
